Welcome to my class! My name is Diana Minard, and I have been a teacher at Shenandoah since 2010. Before that, I taught middle school English at Pio Pico and was a long term substitute at several other schools. I was an English major at UCLA and graduated magna cum laude with highest honors. I absolutely love to read and try to instill that same love of reading in all my students. Come to me for book recommendations!
For the 2016-2017 school year I am very excited to be teaching 3rd grade. Third grade is a great transitional year for students who are now officially moving from the primary to upper grade classroom, and I really value that opportunity to nurture students' growth and development and help them improve the strategies they will need to become more independent learners. Some of the many topics that we will cover during the school year are:
*Reading comprehension *Reading fluency *Text Structure *Grammar
*Vocabulary development *Writing process *Writing genres *Multiplication
*Division *Fractions *Data analysis *Algebra
*Energy *Solar system *Plants *Communities
*Healthy eating habits *Physical activity *U.S. Government *Map skills
*Native Americans *Arts *World cultures and traditions
